students make history
IQRA College
recently held a reception in honour of its pioneer students
at YEBUMOT Hotel, Ilorin for scoring 100 percent pass at the
maiden participation of the College in NECO’s Junior
Secondary Certificate Examination. The event which was presided
over by Mallam Yusuf Ali SAN had dignitaries from all walks
of life in attendance. Mr. Bolaji Abdullahi, the special assistant
to the Governor of Kwara State on Media and Strategy was the
guest speaker at the occasion.
In his opening remarks, Mallam Yusuf Ali
(SAN) congratulated the students and challenged them
to work even harder so that they could repeat the feat for
which they were being honoured in subsequent examinations.
He called their attention to the numerous challenges ahead
of them among which were the need for them to be models for
other children and to equip themselves to champion the cause
of making their country great in the near future. He noted
that many of them were children of successful parents and
meeting the record of their parents was even enough a challenge.
Mr. Bolaji Abdulllah used his speech to
urge the students to dedicate themselves to hard work as there
was no other credible means to true success. He recalled the
example of many who achieved greatness form very humble back
ground just because they were determined and worked very hard.
The maxim, according to him, is that anybody could be whatever
he wants to be provided he is ready to work hard enough to
realise his dream. He also impressed on the students that
competition was getting keener by the day in the job market.
He said that ultimately, each of them will have to compete
not only with his classmates but with his peers all over the
world. The students therefore must prepare themselves for
global competitions.
The proprietor of the college, Mallam Aliu
Badmus gave a welcome address in which he congratulated the
pioneer students and thanked them for creating an eternal
challenge for the College. According to him, having scored
a 100 percent in the first attempt, the college cannot but
strive its utmost to repeat the feat year after year.
Some other dignitaries at the occasion include
the Surveyor-General Alhaji Lamidi Oyebode, HOD Economics,
Kwara State College of Education Ilorin. Goodwill messages
were delivered by dignitaries.
